NEWS FROM THE MISSIONS FIELD
  PHILIPPINES

January 10, 2010
Dear Dr. RayI & friends;
I went to Dr. Howard Tovera, a Christian pastor’s son and my doctor-surgeon yesterday. He declared that the wound on my back is now totally closed and healed - medically speaking. Praise the Lord. Thank you so much for your prayers, and for your financial help.  Thank you for asking others to prey and to help.
There are THREE (3) sea going shipping containers consigned to Bethesda Ministries, sitting at customs.
One is the Battle Creek, Michigan loaded container filled with medical supplies, medical equipment, computers and office furniture and supplies. It left Detroit November 11, and arrived Manila last December 12. Because of outrageous demands of” Christmas” gifts, we decided to delay processing the release of this container until January. God intervened and all of a sudden, all the impediments to the release of this container have disappeared and the container will be released most probably Tuesday or Wednesday next week.
Another shipping container was loaded in Canada, with hospital beds and linens. It left Vancouver, Canada last November 14 and arrived at the port in Manila last December 5. We faced the same problems with “Christmas” gifts and obstacles in processing the paper work. We have decided to pay the minimal (about $1,000.00) taxes and duties of the second hand beds, as we would spend more trying to process the paper work to have it exempted from charges but paying double the amount for storage and demurrage. It will be released almost at the same time as the Battle Creek container.
Another shipping container loaded in China last month, filled with VITAMEAL consigned to Feed the
Children, and then re-consigned to us has arrived at the port in Manila, awaiting transport to Baguio City. It is filled with 1,000 boxes of VITA MEAL food, intended for the children in our feeding centers.
It is worth P12,000,000.00 pesos (US$267,000.00). Praise the Lord. It is our counterpart to bring and distribute this valuable food commodity to all our beneficiaries.
For all three containers, it will take each container $800.00 alone for the overland freight from Manila to Baguio City. Then we have to pay storage and demurrage (rental charged by the shipping company for the use of their shipping container), as well as the extra taxes and duties on the shipping container.
I was hesitant to write about our financial need, but the more we wait, the more we will pay in storage and demurrage per day (about $15.00 to $20.OOUS) per container. We need your prayers to get these containers released without any more problems, and for the financial needs to be met.
Again, I am so thankful for all of you dear friends and family that have prayed for me while I went thru the very painful and horrible surgeries and hospital stay. To have all my hospital and medical bills paid is also a great blessing.  Please ask other friends if they can pitch in to help.
In Christ

MORGANS

CENTRAL AMERICA

Rev. Alfred Morgan and his wife, Rev. Febe Morgan, our coordinators to Central America, were both born and raised in Central America. They are U.S. citizens and have lived in the United States for many years, and have been active in the work of AIGA for more than 20 years. Their hearts desire is to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to Central America.
There is great need in that part of the world as the majority of the people are very poor. Most of them do not even have a Bible. They need Bibles. The native ministers there need assistance to be able to travel to remote places to carry the Gospel. They travel in buses, by bicycles, boats and canoes. They do not have nice homes and need help with necessities like toothbrushes, toothpaste, first aid items and other things that can help them like chain saws, motors for their canoes, fishing lines, and materials to build church buildings.
We receive many reports about the great work that God is doing through our AIGA officials and ministers as they carry the Gospel to many countries throughout the world. As some of you have asked for information about the missions in different countries, we would like to give a brief review of some of the areas of missionary activity, what is being accomplished, and some of the needs.

AFRICA

By Rev. Sam Pennington
(in the photo Rev. Stacy Jackson and Rev. Sam Pennington placing a photo of Rev. Granville and Arlene Rayl in the Headquarters in Nigeria.)
On September 3, 2008, I flew from Orlando International Airport, and arrived at Abuja International Airport on the evening of September 4. I met Stacy Jackson, the AIGA International Missions Director, and Rev. Ifeadi Okaro, the AIGA coordinator for Africa. We spent the night in Abuja due to the danger of traveling the roadway between Abuja and our destination in Jos during the night time.
On September 6, Rev. Jackson and I were called upon to dedicate two buildings in Jos at the compound purchased by Bishop Okaro. The compound is large enough for the addition of a church building of substantial size. The property currently has two buildings. The first is a multi-purpose building that serves as both a church and as offices for the African headquarters for AIGA. It is this building that I was asked to dedicate to the memory of Dr. Granville Rayl, founder of AIGA. I was pleased to be called upon to do this task. On my previous trips to the city of Jos I was able to see a number of people accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior in this building. I had also been able to minister in this building, and to meet with the pastors who labored for the Lord as part of the ministry established by Bishop Okaro.
I know that Dr. Rayl placed a high value on missions, and I am convinced he would have been pleased to know that the founding work he established in America had taken root and produced spiritual fruit in the city of Jos, and the nation of Nigeria. The same spirit that caused him to launch out into a ministry with the vision of taking Christ to the nations by providing a covering to God’s ministers is in full force in Nigeria today.
As I mentioned above, there are two buildings located on the property at this time. The second building houses a school for the children in the neighborhood, and will ultimately house children in an orphanage. Dr. Jackson dedicated this building to the men and women who had contributed funds for the purchase of the property and the refurbishment of the building.
After the dedication of the second building we were privileged to perform a ribbon cutting and to hand each of the students a workbook and a pencil as they entered the school to begin classes. I was surprised, and very pleased, to see that almost half of the children coming to the new school were Muslim. How exciting it was to realize that children will be receiving an education
that uses a Christian curriculum. Please join us in praying that Christ Jesus will become Lord and Savior to these precious children, and that through their influence many parents will also come to know our Lord.
We had the opportunity to be a part of the restoration of a minister who had labored for the Lord but had been nearly destroyed when his wife was unfaithful. It had sent him into a spiral downward, but through the efforts of Dr. Jackson and Bishop Okaro he was able to get himself back on course for God. The Lord performed a real miracle in bringing about restoration and forgiveness in this man’s church. Dr. Jackson and I had insisted that we see this brother before leaving Jos, and Bishop Okaro was able to arrange a meeting. God was the orchestrator of a divine appointment, and the joy in this man’s church was a blessing for us to see and be a part of.
We did not leave Nigeria until the 15th of September and we had the opportunity to preach in several churches. God honored the preaching of His word, as He always does.
I am blessed every time I am allowed to go into the Father’s vineyard and work for the glory of His son, Jesus. Please seek God’s continuing favor for us as we continue to go into His mission field. Also please seek God’s wisdom in knowing how you can assist with this important work. We see and hear many examples of the damage caused by radical Islam, but we know that we are to continue to minister to Muslims the same as we do to others who need a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We will win people to the Lord one soul at a time. God’s heart is that none should perish, but that all should come to a saving knowledge of His strong son Jesus Christ
